Information Technology
and Communication
Increasingly , information and communication
technology (ICT) competency is a determining factor in a person's ability to obtain,
retain and get promoted in a workplace. Computer skills are now needed by most community
government staff in their daily work life.
ICT courses offered by the School of
Community Government will enable you to effectively work in a computerized environment.
Courses are designed to meet the technical
training needs of community government staff and are scheduled in conjunction with other program delveries, usually one day in advance.
This scheduling is done so students can begin applying the skills they have learned in the ICT course immediately following, which increases retention of knowledge. The School of Community Government Staff schedule ICT training based on the software being used in whichever course follows, i.e., budgeting courses would be
preceded by a Microsoft Excel workshop.
All courses offered in the ICT training program are designed to teach the skills required to become a certified Microsoft Office Specialist. upon completion of all the levels of any Microsoft Office program, usually 2 to 3 levels depending on the program, students will be prepared to write the Office Specialist exams in their subject area.
This is learning you'll enjoy - introductory, intermediate
and advanced courses taught by qualified trainers with experience and skill in the use of
many computer software programs.
